Fun in the Sun

Last week we had some gorgeous weather and we did everything we could to be outside. We played in the backyard with Ella's water table and the LITTLE pool. Ella wouldn't take that thing out of her mouth long enough to get a picture....I was just happy she was standing still.
Ava was all about posing...
This was the same day as Ella's one year Dr. appt. so she was not feeling well after all the shots and wanted back inside after about 10 minutes. I can report that Ella is in great health. She weighed in at 20 lbs.(36%) and her length was 30in.(75%)...so, like Ava, she's on the road to tall and thin. She's also now walking well and trying to run after or from Ava. She loves to wave bye and pointing out numerous things as we name them off including her belly, eyes, head, feet and nose. She is also starting to try and sound out words by repeating after us....not quite there yet, but I'm sure she and Ava will both be singing in the car before long!
We ventured out to a nearby public pool last Friday and I must say I thought the girls would last longer than 15 minutes, but no such luck. Although, other than a shallow pool, there wasn't much to keep them occupied. Not sure what the deal was with biting the lower lip...maybe they planned it?
Ava wanted to be sure I got a picture of her on a motorcycle at the park.
We also recently celebrated the 4th of July out at G-ma and G-pa F's house. Ella is becoming more of a handful if we are anywhere other than home due to the fact that she gets into EVERYTHING! This is her crazy busy face....look out she's on a rampage!
It took Ava a little while, but she quickly warmed up to the pool and soon she wanted to be in her tube all by herself!
Ella wasn't so sure about the big pool. She relaxed in her raft for a few minutes, but preferred to be held.
After all that fun in the sun both girls couldn't take another minute.
On another note, Ava is now at an age where she is constantly cracking us up with little sayings she's either heard or that she has come up with completely on her own. I am going to have to start posting some of these just so I can remember them for when she's older. I'd like to start by sharing three of Ava's recent quotes. First, shortly after watching The Little Mermaid I was asking Ava to do something (can't remember what) and she proceeded to tell me "No mom, I'm not a child anymore". I had to remind her she's only 3 and she will always be my child! A few days later Ava was sitting on my lap, she took her hand and grabbed under my upper arm and she got a puzzled look on her face, then she asked "mom, why do you have crumbs in your armpit?" It seemed a little early to start explaining why and where girls shave so I dodged the question. Lastly, Ava told me not long ago "mom, you have the biggest butt I've ever seen". I said, "I don't have the biggest, do I?" And she said, "yep, it's the biggest in the whole world". I left it at that, but some day I hope she has a different opinion on butt size...if for no other reason, at least for my own ego. :)
