Well, as usual October has been a crazy month and having a one month old only added to the chaos. Ava took a break from the princess look and opted for a butterfly costume this year and Ella stayed with the bug theme and chose a ladybug. Little Gavin didn't have much say and instead of being creative and making him a worm or caterpillar, I kept it easy and he was a skeleton.
A happy skeleton!

Before we dive into the Halloween festivities I'll catch you up on what else we've been up to. Ava is still taking dance class, even though she occasionally brings up going back to gymnastics.
Ava also occasionally helps out with Gavin, it is usually short lived since he is getting "so heavy" as she puts it.

You may recall, each year we try to take some pictures outside with the changing leaves. This year I have procrastinated to the point that the weather, our moods, and the landscape haven't synced up for that perfect picture. Dan suggested one day, when the weather was warm, to get outside and take some pics, but I thought it was too windy. So that evening when he got home he took the girls out for a photo shoot...this was the only shot where they're hair wasn't in their faces.
The actual Halloween festivities kicked off with a party at Ava's dance class. She has a pretty big class this year.

We also visited Eckert's Farm and the girls seemed to have a lot of fun. They rode an airplane ride, but the pics didn't turn out that great. They also enjoyed some tire swings.

One of their favorite activities was the giant jumping pillow.

They also loved and feared feeding the goats. It was a busy day and both girls were asleep before we even got back to the highway.
The following weekend we did some pumpkin carving. Each of the girls got to clean out a pumpkin and pick out how they wanted it carved. Ava scrapes and scraped until her pumpkin is seedless.
She picked an owl this year. Here is Dan's handiwork.

Ella cleaned for a bit but then got sick of picking the slime off her hands and got bored.

She picked a cat this year and here is my handiwork. I was pretty proud even if it did take me almost 4 hours!!

The day before Halloween we went to our annual Halloween party with some friends from college. The girls got to take part in the bone hunt, costume parade, piƱata, and playtime. here they are in the parade....

It is such a cute party and it's amazing how the children have significantly over taken the adults in the last few years. We would also typically have a party at their school too, but it was scheduled during the same week as the World Series and although we didn't get to have the annual party, we were thrilled that the Cardinals were the WORLD SERIES CHAMPS!

On Halloween we went out to Linzy and Brian's house to trick or treat and celebrate Linzy's big 30th birthday!!! Ashton was an adorable airplane for Halloween and all three kids did a great job trick or treating.

Of all the craziness that October brought, the most exhausting was Gavin's sleepless nights. He is now on his fifth formula and third medication due to severe reflux and some digestive issues. Nothing too serious, luckily, just enough to make him uncomfortable and not able to sleep for more than an hour or so at a time. We started some new things a few days ago so hopefully November will be a new beginning! We also recently had Gavin's 6 week doctor's appt. where we found out he weighs in at 11 pounds 9 ounces(50%) and is 22.5 inches long (50%). He is in great health and once he sleeps consistently, I'll be in much better health too :)
I will say, even with all his issues, he has some great smiling moments! We're only a few weeks away from Chris and Courtney's big day so I'm sure many pictures are to come!
