It's been awhile since I've had a post full of Gavin pictures, but this is definitely full of Gavin. Last week we had Gavin's graduation from his Little Gym Class. Ava and Ella both took classes there starting around the age of one, so to be fair, Gavin did the same. The first two or three classes were rough. He didn't want to participate, he was very shy and he wanted me to hold him a majority of the time. However, after that he did great. He seemed to enjoy climbing all over the place, interacting with all the people (adults and kids) and LOVED the bubbles. It's little blurry but here is a little smile...
The day before his graduation he got a hair cut, which makes him look so much older to me! I know his feet are on the floor in this pic, but he did like to hang from the bars too. I used this picture since he actually looking at me.
Gavin also liked the balance beam, but still needs assistance. I couldn't help him across the beam and get a picture, so let's just pretend he is on a beam in this picture. :)
As soon as he was free to roam, he usually went straight for the wedge mat and ran to the top then either ran back down or did a somersault down the mat. Doing somersaults on his own was a big accomplishment by the end of the session!
Gavin was one of the oldest in the class and could actually switch to the next class up toward the end of the session, but because it took him awhile to warm up, I kept him in this class and I'm glad I did. By the end of the session he seemed so much bigger. He has also been sleeping from about 8pm to 10am so I think he is in a serious growth spurt.
The bubbles were one of Gavin's favorite part of class. He liked to chase after them....
catch one on his hand, then run over to me and have me pop it! He would get so excited. Big change from sitting quietly on my lap for the first few classes.
As much as he enjoyed climbing around we decided to take the summer off from gym class. Between swim lessons, girls gymnastics, recitals, camps and vacations we are busy enough. I hope to start his classes back up in the fall when the girls go back to school, hopefully he jumps right back in and enjoys it from the start!
Here is our little man getting his graduation ribbon(they use to hand out medals but whatever)...
The class was suppose to sit down together for a picture, but that was not going to happen with 6 little toddlers, so it was just Gavin and Emma. Emma is Isabelle's sister who Gavin knows pretty well from Ava and Isabelle's school and activities and around the neighborhood. Here they are checking out their ribbons...
talking about their accomplishment...
and smiling for the Mommies...
I am doing my best but I totally understand why there are always more pictures and mementos from the first born versus the third. There is just not enough time in a day to care for all three kids and have almost daily photo sessions like I did with Ava. Sorry in advance to Ella and Gavin, I will capture as much as I can and I promise I love you all very much and EQUALLY! Since the girls recitals and Ella's birthday are coming up and Gavin updates may take a backseat again, I have a few more things to share about our little man. He is 21 months old and showing signs of the terrible two's, although I stand by my beliefs that three's are worse than two's. As I mentioned earlier he is sleeping a lot. He goes down between 8-8:30 and has been waking up around 10am!! Something the girls NEVER did...SLEEP IN! He eats pretty good, loves fruit and hates most vegetables, with the exception of corn. He loves corn, as long as it's ON the cob!!
And once he's slept well and had enough to eat, I get this look... the "mom, I am totally satisfied" look. Unfortunately, this look only lasts till one of his sisters mentions the word dessert, then he is ready for more!
My one frustration at this point is Gavin's lack of speech!! By this age Ava could say anything she wanted and would repeat anything we said. Ella was bit harder to understand but she too could talk. Gavin, however, is in no rush. He can say Mama, Dada, banket(blanket), dit(sit) down, doe(door), dis(this), maanet(magnet) and lide(slide). Obviously there is some translating that needs to be done, even with these few words. He refuses to even try to say things like cup, dog or ball. He hums for his cup ("hm hm hmmm") and worse case scenario if your really not delivering or understanding what he wants he will "hit" the floor in front of his feet and start whining. So, needless to say I will be pleased when he starts really talking and communicating. Gavin's loves right now include his blanket, reading/listening to books, pressing the garage door button, flushing toilets and getting into anything he thinks he shouldn't be into when I turn my back. The girls even call for Gavin after they go to the bathroom so he can flush...he loves it. I'm not a big fan, it seems like they are all always in the bathroom and I am saying "go wash your hands" all day long! He is so different from the girls, but so much fun and the sweetest little Mama's boy I could have asked for!
Stay tuned for more of this crazy month of June!
