Ava's First Communion

This past Saturday was Ava's big day.  To say she was excited is an understatement.  She was so nervous even though they had rehearsed at school numerous times.  She treated it much like a wedding day.  "I'm so nervous Mom…I have to walk straight up to Father by myself!"  We had picked out her dress a few weeks ago, which she wanted to "try on" everyday since and she insisted on wearing my old veil from my first communion (made by G-ma C).  It has been in storage for a LONG time, but held up well.

Ella and Gavin had no clue what was going on.  The only thing Ella noticed and asked about was why Ava got to have/wear high heels and she doesn't.

Here is Ava's banner she made (with some help from Mom).  Ava has the belief the more the better and I tried to enforce the 'less is more' policy.  It turned out pretty good.

I attempted to do a better job of getting pictures of everyone, but I still came up short.

I managed to get one with Ava, myself, and G-ma C, but missed G-pa C and G-ma and G-pa F.  I also missed Uncle Chris and Aunt Courtney (the GODPARENTS).  I'll have to get one the next time we see them…Ava loved having everyone there to help celebrate.  THANK YOU!!

A rare family photo with all five of us...

We had assigned seating and were put in the back of the church.  It did not bode well for getting a good view of Ava during the service, but we got a great view of Ava right before she headed down the isle…alone…Dan and I actually got to walk behind her.
It was a lovely service and at the end they tried to gather all the second graders for a group shot…not an easy task.  Here is a close up of Ava in the group because…
once the group was situated and all looking forward, Ava disappeared from my view and there were too many photographers to try and reposition.
It was a fabulous day and we could not have asked for better weather.  Congratulations to our sweet Ava, and thank you to everyone who came from near and far to help celebrate!!
