Spring snow???

After having the gorgeous weather at the beginning of March the last thing we were expecting was snow! But, because we grew up in the midwest, I can't say we were surprised to get almost 5 inches towards the end of March. The girls were definitely excited about getting one more opportunity to play in the snow before putting the boots back in storage!

I believe the snow came on a Saturday afternoon, so after nap time they headed out before it got dark. Ella loves to sled with Daddy down the big hill. The next day was bright and sunny again and with temps going back up we knew the snow wouldn't last long. It was a really wet snow so unlike the night before we decided to take some extra precautions to keep Ella dry since she didn't have snow pants. We decided to wrap her bottom half in plastic wrap and tape. You may ask why we are so cheap and didn't just go get her snow pants....well, we could have, but I knew Ava's old ones will fit her next year and I hated to buy pants for maybe one or two times out in the snow. Below is a pic of her modeling her plastic pants, which she hated. One of the downfalls to being the second child....hand-me-downs...or lack there of. Ava, on the other hand, was very comfortable in her size 2T snow pants. They were a little small, but not small enough for us to buy new ones. Especially since next year she'll probably a totally different size. Ava and Dad took turns burying each other in the snow...here is Ava buried. Here is Dad buried :) Before coming inside they decided to build a snowman, which turned into something even better...a thrown! A week or so later after the snow was gone but the cold temps remained, Dan and the girls headed over to G-ma and G-pa F's house. One thing that is evident with the second child is how much faster they grow up. Anything Ava does Ella wants to do too, no matter what it is. Here is Ava jumping off a bench.
Here is Ella wanting to do the same thing, but second guessing herself once seeing how high she is.

So se decided to find a more appropriate launching pad.
Dan also took Ava ice skating for the first time a few weeks ago. I think he said she lasted about 5 minutes.
Well, that brings us almost up to date. The first weekend in April Ava's school had their annual Easter egg hunt. Before heading over to the school we thought we'd grab a couple pics of the girls all dressed up. Please ignore my reflection in the door, we didn't think that location through.
Another thing Ella has adopted from Ava is the popular head tilt for pictures. She doesn't do it quite as often as Ava did/does, but if you say "say cheese", it is occasionally followed with the tilt.

One thing I was not expecting was the reaction the girls had to the Easter bunny. There were no screams and no tears! We didn't get huge smiles, but I was satisfied.
After the bunny we had snacks or should I say candy.
Then finally it was time for the egg hunt. We didn't end up with too many eggs, mainly do to the fact that just as they were opening the doors to run outside, Ava turned to me and said "mommy, I have to go potty". And of course it was number 2, so by the time we got outside most of the eggs had been found.
After telling Ella she needed to go find the eggs, she really tried to grab every egg she saw!
The Easter Bunny came out during the hunt and the girls couldn't get enough. They kept running over and yelling "Hi bunny", then the bunny would turn and Ella would run away, it turned in to quite the game.
With the real Easter just around the corner I hope to get even more pics of the girls dressed up and I know they hope to get even more eggs!
