It has been all about Ava for the last two weeks at our house. First we had to plan her friend party, then her family party, then we had to celebrate! Ava turned four last week and there was no confusion about whose birthday it was. She was sure to tell everyone it was her birthday week, from her friends at school to the bagger at Schnucks. All week long Ava got to pick our meals (with a little help), pick her clothes, and be the center of attention. She kept saying "Mom, I'm so excited I get to be four all week!". Then I had to remind her she gets to be four all year! On Tuesday, her actual birthday, G-ma and G-pa F came over for some spaghetti and meatballs and cookie cake!
On Saturday morning we had a party with 10 of Ava's closest friends. They played, made their own pizzas and fruit salad, then decorated cupcakes. It was a big crazy mess, but Ava had fun. Here she is working on her pizza.
Here is the rest of the table...
Aunt Linzy helped the kids at the mini table....Ella just like eating the sprinkles.
We opened gifts, Ava had a lot of help!
And of course we sang happy birthday. We practiced candle blowing all week....worked on more blowing less spitting.
Saturday night we had our family party. By this point the camera was just about dead so we didn't get many pictures, it slipped my mind to charge the batteries. Anyway, before opening gifts Ava put on a little show for everyone singing her favorite songs. I believe we heard ABC's, Ba Ba Black Sheep, and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. She's not in this picture but Ella sang with Ava for most of them...I wished I had a video camera for that performance.
By Saturday night at bedtime both girls were exhausted and showing signs of yet another cold. The parties were both a success, now if we could just stay healthy!
Ava also had her 4 year check up last week and proved to be in good overall health. We are going to see an allergist for all these sinus issues we've had this winter, but overall she's healthy. She weighed in at 33 pounds (35%) and measured 3'5.14" tall (80%). I will say, I was so proud when she had to get 4 shots and didn't shed a single tear. I could tell she was trying very hard to be "a big girl". Happy birthday to our sweet Ava!!
