Well, after spending the last month moving furniture, redoing flooring, moving more furniture, and painting we are slowly preparing for baby #3. Our computer was out of commission for quite awhile after taking apart the office. When finally getting everything put back together we found that our monitor and/or computer is having some major issues. SO long story short, I am trying out a different computer and hopefully I won't run into any major issues. Back to the girls...I left off with some Easter festivities at Ava's school, so I'll pick up the following weekend. We decided to try dyeing Easter eggs this year, an activity I have been avoiding for 4 years. Grandma F did buy an egg dyeing kit that looked promising for cutting down on the mess, but it posed some new issues.
You are suppose to put the egg in the machine, pour some dye on the egg and pump the top which spins the egg, and in theory, covers the egg with dye. The problem we ran into is the egg stays on its side the whole time so the top and bottom of the eggs remain white. Also, because there was only one machine and you have to clean it between eggs, Ella lost interest in waiting her turn immediately! Therefore, there are no pictures of Ella's first egg dyeing experience.
On Easter we went out to G-ma and G-pa F's house and had our annual egg hunt, Easter feast, and family fun. Here are the girls at the start of the egg hunt.
Then they realized if they want to come out with some eggs they better speed up!!
The hunt seemed to last only a few minutes and once done the girls were happy with their collection.
Other than the egg hunt I did not get any Easter pics so I'll have to move on to a few weeks later. Every year we pick a random weekend to plant our flowers in the front landscaping and this year we had lots of help! I am amazed at how much my two little princesses love worms! Especially Ava, she wanted to hold them and carry them around, whereas Ella just laughed at them wiggling around.
Speaking of Ella, she is already showing some major signs of terrible two's. She is extremely stubborn and wants to do everything herself! When I say everything, she'll go as far as to throw her napkin/fork/whatever on the floor on purpose so she can pick it up after you just helped her by picking it up. She must buckle her own seat belt, put on her own shoes, fasten her own diaper, and so on and so on! She has also started waking up at 6am with the birds. Although she needs more sleep and would be much happier with more, she has chosen to ignore her body and instead start calling for me no later than 6:02am. There has been two occasions recently that her lack of sleep has caught up to her and when I go to get dressed or brush my teeth, this is what I come back down stairs to find...occasion 1...
occasion 2....
While she is SO stubborn Ella is also quite a cuddler. She will surprise you with hugs and kisses, especially if she thinks you are upset. She also says "so much mama, love you so much". She also says this to her blanket and dolls, so I'm not sure where I fall? She still loves to sing, her ABC's and Ba Ba Black Sheep are her favorites. She also loves her big sister! Although they have their fair share of fights/fits, she loves to play with Ava, "doctor" is one of their favorite things to play, the arguments starts when Ava only wants to be the doctor. Speaking of Ava, my word to describe Ava right now is...DRAMATIC! She can go from laughing and playing to full on melt down in a split second. Her world comes crashing down multiple times a day! I can't help but chuckle when I hear her and Ella arguing and she tells Ella "if you don't listen to me I will put you in time out forever!" I have never threatened time out forever, she must get pretty mad! :) Ava also still loves to perform and in a few weeks she has her first dance recital! I think, actually I know, she is more excited about the outfit than the performance. But nonetheless, it should be entertaining. Last weekend, while Ella napped, Ava tested out the sprinkler for the first time this year.
She got a little thirsty...
Then tried a new angle...
After getting frustrated with water getting in her eyes, she tried out some goggles.
We also got out the slip-in-slide for the first time. Dad decided to show Ava how it's done.
Ava did not get the concept.
While the temperature was almost 90, there was a strong breeze. This and the freezing cold water made it too cool for Ava to continue and all she wanted to do was stay curled up in her towel. She was much more adventurous in the water so we are hoping she will be just as adventurous in the big pool this year?!
We have our first ever family vacation coming up soon, we'll see how a man, his 6 month pregnant wife, their 4 year old drama queen and stubborn two year old do driving to Florida! Keep your fingers crossed that the whole week isn't spent in tears!
