More Milestones :)

Before I get to the post I feel as though I need to clarify something you may have noticed on the last post. Ava and Ella are looking a little beat up lately. After a day of Ava continuously running into every step and bruising her shins pretty badly, Ella took a spill. Her and I were at the grocery store in the parking lot, I opened her door and watched her climb up then I went around to the back of the van to load up the groceries. It was then that she fell back out of the van and landed on her face (I kept the door open because it was 100+ degrees) . Her forehead absorbed most of the impact resulting in a huge scrape. After watching for symptoms of a concussion she seemed to be OK. It was only a few hours later though that the girls were chasing each other in the basement and ended up running right into each other, which turned up new bruises on both foreheads. So, although I was nervous of what people probably thought, especially on the first day of school, no one said anything. The girls are now wrapped in bubble wrap till we get these injuries under control, J/K of course! They are both on the mend!
Moving on....I figured before I get insanely busy with a new baby I would give one more big update. Ava is finally enjoying her bike! For those unaware, we bought Ava this bike for Christmas and although she would always talk about how she likes to ride her bike and it was such a neat bike, when push came to shove, she wouldn't ride it. She would get on and within 1-2 minutes she wanted off. She said the bike went too fast, when actually a turtle could have passed her, literally. She would get SO nervous and SO tense it almost always ended in tears. I'm not sure what changed but last weekend she agreed to go around the block with Dan while he rode his bike too. Since then, she has been a new biker.
She was even willing to look at me and smile WHILE riding, where as before, she wouldn't look up from her handle bars.
Another quick pose as she rode past me. Previous pictures would never have had a blurred background due to lack of speed, but now it was hard to get her face in focus as she moved.
She is so excited that she can do it, and it's a relief for us to see her let go of some of that fear she carried around. We're not ready to start racing by any means and she is still very cautious of hills, or any incline for that matter, but it is huge progress from where we were!
One thing she has always enjoyed, is her scooter. She asked me to take some pictures of her with her scooter so everyone could see how good she was at her scooter, and how she can ring her bell and ride it at the same time! I tried to explain that you can't see the ringing of the bell in the pictures, but she is convinced that people will be able to tell.
Yay Ava! We are so proud of you!!
Now a quick update on the first complete week of school. Day one was obviously in the previous post. Day two: both girls cried and screamed at drop off. However, shortly after I left both girls were fine. Ava said she loved school and had so much fun. Ella cried on and off again and continues to cling to her blanket, but she is starting to realize she has no choice. And finally today was day three: Ava goes on Thursday's but Ella does not. Ella was more than thrilled to know that she did not have to go today, she kept repeating "I don't go to school, not today!". Ava did great at drop off and said she had another great day! We'll see what the semester brings but I am hoping for the best.
