Better late than never...Right? It seems like yesterday I was trying to think of what to get the kids for Christmas, and here we are on January 22nd, one month from Ava's birthday! Where did December go? We had a great Christmas and an uneventful New Year's. Due to the fact that Gavin is only one and is getting into EVERYTHING and Zoe was only a few weeks old and also into EVERYTHING, we did not have our regular Christmas tree this year. Instead, the girls had small pink and purple trees in their rooms and on Christmas morning the trees magically appeared in our living room with the gifts.
Moving back a bit in December, Ella and I went to a Mommy and me gingerbread house decorating night at her school. She was excited for a night with just her and mom, even if it was only an hour. Here is her finished product...
A week or so before Christmas we were back at the school for Ava's class Christmas program. Ava was a shepherd and had one line she shared with a few other girls. If you look close she is the green shepherd on the left. She was so nervous, but said her lines, or at least mouthed them well, we couldn't tell since they all said it at once.
That brings us up to Christmas morning. We were able to get the picture of the girls coming down the stairs, but after that the quality of pictures trails off.
Bikes were the big gifts this year, with the exception of Gavin of course.
For months Ava had been asking for a make up head and Santa answered her request. So far more make up ends up on her and Ella than the doll head, but it keeps them entertained! Mission accomplished!
I don't think it mattered what Ella opened she was just excited to be opening something, even boots!
Gavin wasn't sure what to think of all those gifts. I don't think we caught even one smile from him. He was very serious and on a mission all day.
Zoe was in heaven...paper and boxes :)
More serious Gavin...
Once we were finished making a mess at our house we headed over to Grandma and Grandpa F's house for more gifts and celebration. It didn't take long and we had made a pretty decent mess over there too.
Gavin remained in his unamused mood and preferred to play with this cabinet rather than
opening more gifts. The kids again got more stuff than they know what to do with and already can't wait till next Christmas.
The celebrating continued into the next weekend when Grandma and Grandpa C, along with Linzy, Brian, Ashton and London came over to visit. Nobody was thinking and this was the only picture that was taken the whole day. We'll have to make up for that at all the upcoming birthday parties.
It was a great holiday and while we did nothing to "celebrate" on New Year's Eve, the night did not go by without many thoughts of what an amazing year we had in 2012. Our 1st baby started kindergarten!
And our little man turned ONE!!
Not to mention we bought Zoe...CRAZY! We are so blessed and I can't wait to see what 2013 brings!
