Keeping Busy

It never ceases to amaze me what these kid's grandparents can come up with/build to entertain them.  I know I already posted all about the recital week, but we had something else going on that week too.  G-ma F and I were in crunch time for planning Chris and Courtney's baby shower for the following Saturday.  We went out to their house on Monday evening with good intentions but got a bit side tracked with the ZIP LINE that G-pa F and Uncle Brad had built!!

Based on their previous actions we thought Ava would be a bit reserved and cautious, where as Ella would attack the kid zip line and want to move on to the adult one, (yes there's two, small and large, crazy!) however, just the opposite happened.  Ava couldn't wait to do it and can now harness herself up, hook onto the line and take herself off.  Ella, on the other hand took numerous trips before she warmed up to it and it wasn't until this past weekend that she asked to do it multiple times.  She also prefers to have someone catch her at the end rather than stop herself.  Ava has asked to try the "grown up" one, but it's not quite ready.

The rest of the week was totally occupied with recitals and shower planning.  Then on Saturday we pulled it off.  A duck/pool themed couples and kids baby shower!  We had a great turn out and everyone had a great time.  My only regret is that I never got a picture of the Mom and Dad to be! Plenty of pictures of the kids, but none of Chris and Courtney…here is some of the crowd in the pool.

Gavin had had a good week at swim lessons so unlike a week or two earlier when he didn't want water in his face, this time he jumped right in!  He must have gone up and down that slide a hundred times!  A special thanks to Julie, Allen, Uncle Don and anyone else that stood by that slide at some point in time and got trapped helping Gavin!!

No matter how many times he went down he always looked like he was holding his breath with anticipation right before going in.  I'm glad he's brave, but he makes me more nervous around the pool than my girls ever did.

This one was taken right after Daddy caught him off the slide.

What were the girls doing you ask??  Well they found Uncle Mike who was willing to play god knows what game with them.  There were a lot of little girls there (7, I think) and he "played" with them way longer than he probably planned.  Thanks Mike!

Ella came out of her shell too and decided since Gavin can go down the slide with nothing on and Ava can jump off the diving board with nothing on then maybe she could make it down the slide with just one tube instead of her usual two!

This picture is totally random.  I just posted it because when I saw it I couldn't believe how much he's grown up.

Finally, after a long week and a busy day of swimming and celebrating Dan and I took the girls to the Muny to see Tarzan.  It wasn't as well perceived Shrek was last year but they still had fun. I think it was missing the comical aspect that they liked with Shrek, but they loved seeing Tarzan "fly" above the crowd to the stage.

Stay tuned….we haven't slowed down yet!
