Gavin's 1st, July 4th and more!

Well, it finally felt as though we were getting back to our weekly routine and then we had to add something big to our Thursdays…Gavin's "school"!!  For the month of July every Thursday Gavin goes to Faith Lutheran Preschool.  This is the same preschool he will attend in the fall two days a week since he is not old enough to start at SMMA.  He has been asking to go to "his" school ever since we registered him back in May.

He was so excited…he kept saying "me play with other kids?", "me eat lunch there?", "me ask teacher to play on playground?".

I knew he did not suffer from separation anxiety but I did not think he was SO ready to get rid of me!  As soon as I parked the car and unbuckled him he grabbed his lunch box and said "me do it, me go to school" and he took off running for the door.

We got there a little early and I had planned to take a few pictures with his sisters and in front of the doors, but this was the best I could do from across the parking lot.  He turned back for a second and then went straight into school mode, "bye Mom".  I was not prepared for such a quick clean break.  I handled it well, mainly because I had to get the other two to gymnastics.

Let's move on.  The next day was the fourth of July.  I had good intentions and brought my camera out to G-ma and G-pa F's house where we swam, zip lined, jumped on the trampoline and roasted marshmallows (was a beautiful 80 degrees).  Unfortunately the only time I used my camera was at our house before we left.  Happy fourth!!

That brings us up to last weekend.  The nice weather continued so on Saturday while I repainted our ceiling (long story) Dan took the kids to the park.  Then on Sunday while Dan fixed our lights in our landscaping I took the kids outside to have some fun with the hose.  Ahhh the joys of home ownership.

It didn't take long before Gavin took charge of the hose.  He was happy as long as he had that hose!

If he felt his hose job being threatened he would take off running and yelling "no no, me one more time".  We obviously need to work on the whole "me this", "me that" thing.  And "one more" is Gavin's favorite phrase.  He uses that line for everything…"one more time" to close/open the garage door, "one more" of whatever treat he has, "one more minute" before nap or bedtime.  He may be more of a negotiator than Ella and that's hard to beat!!

Thankfully the girls just let him take charge of the hose.  Normally there would have been arguing, screaming and tears involved but they were feeling generous.  Maybe they could sense I couldn't handle any more fits.

They always seem so nice, quiet and peaceful when they're asleep.

Yesterday after tennis lessons the girls were invited to Sweet and Sassy for a birthday party for Brooke and Bristol. (twins that we know from Ella's dance class and their sister Karlee from Ava's class)  The girls have been dancing together for years and switched studios with us this past year.  Here they all are after they had been "made over".  Not sure why but Bristol was not happy.

I know Ella planned to get her ears pierced when she was 65 (yes sixty-five) but since we were at Sweet and Sassy anyway, I thought I would throw out the offer as I had many times before to get it done.  This time she actual said "sure, as long as I can sit on your lap".  So here is Ella with pierced ears 60 years earlier than planned!  I'm glad I got to see it, I don't know what kind of state I will be in at 95 years old! :)

That brings us up to date.  Now, thanks to all that running around I have a sinus infection, cough and some strain of strep.  And Gavin has a double ear infection, a sinus infection and "a touch" of pneumonia according to the doctor.  Time to rest…fingers crossed that I can keep everyone else healthy!!
