Cheese Please!

Adding to the chaos of the last two months, Ava's first dance competition was the last weekend in February.  Ava is a part of the Itty Bitty Competition Line at Studio C.  It is the starter group for girls who are competing for the first time.  The name of their dance is 'Cheese Please'.

I think Ava has a love/hate relationship with dance.  Usually by February-ish Ava is growing tired of going to dance twice a week and there's talk of stopping dance.  However, after the glitz and glamour of the recital in June all frustrations are forgotten and dance is back up at the top of the list.  The good thing about the competition line is that there are just enough glitzy moments to avoid the boredom.  Being dolled up on stage is BY FAR Ava's favorite part of dance.

The down side to the competition line is the additional time at the dance studio.  With Ava and Ella taking a combined 7 classes we spend a fair amount of time at the studio, which means Gavin spends a lot of time there too.  Gavin has taken to finding whatever male he can (old, young, friendly or not) and striking up a conversation.  Obviously the older males do more talking and the younger males tend to do more playing.  Here is one little boy Gavin seeks out on Wednesday nights.  They were sliding cars back and forth.

We had a few extra practices and a dress rehearsal before the competition so we have a lot of pictures in the costume.

All the practicing paid off too.  Ava's group got 2nd place in their category, her teachers consider it a win since it was all the girls first time competing.  Stay tuned….competition #2 is shortly after Easter.
I also hope to get some pictures of Ella's missing tooth.  In true Ella fashion she lost her first tooth (not counting the one she knocked out) during Ava's birthday party! Also Ella started indoor soccer (scored her first goal last weekend!!!) and Ava started basketball.  I have a lot of pictures to take!
