My baby is 8!!! Ava is 8 going on 18. She is really starting to pay close attention to what is popular with the junior high crowd and grow up as quickly as possible. She loves to text when I allow it, loves to call anyone who wants to talk, loves to perform for anyone who wants a show and is beyond sensitive and dramatic. She likes to be the boss and nothing is more annoying to her than trying to play with her brother and sister only to have them quit when things aren't going their way. She is so smart and while school isn't exactly easy for her, she studies really hard and definitely earns her A's and B's. Currently her favorite subject is science closely followed by reading.
Can you guess what Ava's favorite color is? It was pink for the first 6 or 7 years of her life, but sometime in the last year or so she switched to blue. She now wants her room to be blue! (not a big deal if she wasn't picking the brightest blue out there)
Ella helped Dan pick out the cake for Ava and proved she knows Ava pretty well. I wouldn't have picked it for her myself but she loved the cookie dough cake with BLUE icing.
One of my biggest challenges as my kids have gotten older is gift shopping. They don't "need" anything and they "want" everything, junk included. If I have no ideas I can never go wrong with a stuffed animal…my children LOVE stuffed animals! (Love isn't even a strong enough word) Somehow she ended up with plenty of gifts and only one stuffed animal, plus one gift card to build-a-bear (her favorite store on earth).
Once cake, singing and gifts were done the kids took over the entertainment. Our littlest guest, Fiona, enjoying taking Ella for rides around the kitchen.
Gavin and London took turns dancing for the crowd and then in the midst of a sugar high they joined forces for a final show.
The day after the family party Ava had a 'friend' party at our house. She had 5 friends from school over, did a few crafts, played dress up and wrapped up with some cake. My little girl is now 47lbs and 4'3". It won't be long and she will pass me up! :(
