Happy Father's Day!

I wish I could say we spent all of Father's Day showering Dan with gifts, but unfortunately dress rehearsal for the girls recital fell on the same day.  We took advantage of the few hours we had in the morning and the kids gave Dad some of their best homemade gifts.  Then Gavin and Dad went out to G-ma and G-pa's house for some boy bonding time, while the girls and I spent the rest of the day dancing (or watching dancing).

Saying the girls took dance this year is a bit of an understatement.  I think I MAY have been "under the influence" when I registered them for dance last year.  It wasn't until costume fees were due in January that I thought "WHAT WAS I THINKING?".  Ava and Ella took a pom pom class and a hip hop class together, hence to duplicate costumes.  Ella also took her usual tap/ballet/jazz class.  Ava took her tap/ballet/jazz class and added a competition class, which has been discussed in previous posts.  So 9 routines later (5 for Ava and 4 for Ella) we've decided to scale it back a little next year.  Recital pictures will follow soon.

I'm not sure if it's Gavin's age or the fact that there's so much dressing up going on in our house, but Gavin has caught the "dress up" bug.  His costume of choice is Captain America.  He made a mask at summer camp (superhero day) and the shield was sent in the mail by Captain America himself.  (also known as close friend who saw Gavin's love of Captain America and lack of shield)

Sometimes there's a cape (superman), other times there's a number of swords sticking out of the back of his shirt and a mask (ninja turtle), and other times there's just a simple mustache sticker.  He said "look Mom I'm Grandpa!"  All three of our children love to play dress up!

It's not all fun and dance at our house, we do take time out for serious sweet treats.  Here's the kids and Ella's friend Emma at Orange Leaf…their favorite.

What…no more ice cream?!?!?

We were out and about not long ago and I grabbed this picture…I figured it won't be long and they will never again be exactly a head taller than each other, no tippy toes.  It will also be a long time before I take all three of them shopping with me!!

Poor Zoe…if it wasn't for Ella (and G-ma Carron when she's in town) Zoe would hardly ever have attention.  As absolutely CRAZY as I was for getting a dog, I lucked out with Zoe.  She is laid back, goes with the flow, and other than jumping on and licking guests to death when they first arrive, she listens really well.

And now that I've brought up Ella I'd like to mention that she has a birthday right around the corner!!
Stay tuned...
