With the girls at school it's been up to Gavin alone to help me out at home, at least on Tuesdays and Thursdays. He is in a huge rush to be older and do everything himself. When it comes to helping out at the grocery store he can be quite helpful, but when it comes to him wanting to tie MY shoes, it can be unbelievably frustrating!!
It hasn't been all work and no play. When the girls first went back to school Gavin and I met his friend Louis at the transportation museum. He had never been there before and he probably could have stayed there all day!
Gavin and Louis climbed on trains, rode trains, and drove their own little trains (no pic). Can you tell Gavin is use to seeing his sisters pose for pictures? Haha
The following week Gavin got to have his friend Henry over for a play date. They played great together and spent the whole time playing "super heroes" together in the basement.
After two weeks of play it was time to get to work around the house….
Only to be followed up with a trip to the park with Louis and Molly.
The laid-back days at the park didn't last long. Before we knew it there was no free time left between school and activities. Ava decided to give soccer a try again this year after a year off. She loves to play at home with Dan and she even loved to go to practice with her team, but games were a different story. The season started off OK, but after Ava was hit in the face with the ball in the second or third game she struggled to get her mind back in the game. In her defense it was a hard hit that left the imprint of the balls' stitching on her face!
Now we are at the end of the season with her last game tomorrow and she is finally going after the ball again. The jury is still out as to whether or not she will sign up again next year.
She has a great team and a phenomenal coach and good potential, so we are hopeful she'll give it another try. Even though we need more activities like I need a bullet in my head!!
While soccer was a bit of a struggle Ava was also trying volleyball for the first time. She really likes playing volleyball, I think it's the fact that she doesn't have to be aggressive at all!
The girls finished up their season today and Ava FINALLY got all her serves over the net…that was huge for her!! She can't wait to play volleyball again.
I haven't taken any pictures of it yet but Ava and Ella are both doing dance again this year. Ava decided to try out for the competition line again and made it, but Ella opted to stick with just the recreational classes…phew!
Speaking of Ella, she too has a full plate. In addition to dance she is playing soccer, however unlike Ava she LOVES soccer. Even though she is the one of the smallest girls out there at every game, she has more aggression than some of the girls combined! She gets knocked down, pushed, shoved, tripped, etc., but she gets right back up and goes after the ball. She loves it so much she has decided to continue the fun with indoor soccer. Her outdoor season ends tomorrow and her indoor season started today…Yay!
And let's not forget about our little man. Gavin is playing soccer in the inter-murals league for 3-4 year olds. He is more like Ella than Ava and gives it his best effort. Unfortunately, he too is one of the smallest out on the field despite the fact that he is one of the oldest. He gets knocked down A LOT but he was so proud when his coach told him he was one of the toughest kids he's ever met. He measures his success with how many goals he scores each game, which he usually gets one. My favorite part is when he scores and then runs across the field yelling "I got a goal Mom, I got a goal Mom!!!" and lands right in my arms. He loves playing and plans to do a soccer camp starting later in November with Ella.
As if we aren't busy enough the girls are getting ready to start basketball, Ella and Gavin start the soccer camp soon, plus Ella's indoor team, and Gavin starts Taekwondo on Monday! Not to mention Halloween festivities are wrapping up tonight…stay tuned!
