Oh yes, those are watermelon pants courtesy of Uncle Brad. Could be a great idea for pictures with a little toddler, but Gavin did not want to keep those pants on. Not to mention half a watermelon hanging from bungee cords can be quite heavy on the shoulders. :)
My baby is BARELY hanging on to the toddler years. At four years old he is in a BIG hurry to be one of the big kids. He talks NON-STOP, I'm serious, NON-STOP. And if he thinks you're not listening he will continue to grow louder and louder until you acknowledge him.
Don't let this picture fool you. He appears to be quite, shy, sweet….It's a trick. This is the face he uses when he wants something OR when he just did something he should not have done. This face is the reason he has me wrapped around his little finger. That and the fact that he is my baby!
If I know him, which I do, he is wishing for yet another ninja turtle, super hero or lego set. He is obsessed!
Some of the cousins with my baking masterpiece...
Here's a closer look. Gavin had his heart set on this cake for his birthday after seeing it in the mall 7+ months before his birthday. While the cake was still available it was also expensive, so in an attempt to save some money I decided to try and replicate the cake myself. For those who know my baking history (of which there's none) this is a big deal! It took quite awhile but Gavin loved it which was the whole point…I guess.
Here are a few more of the cousins, we're just missing London who didn't want to get out of the little pop-up tent Gavin got as a present.
This is a little backwards from the way we actually did it, but for the blog we now move on to the presents. Gavin's favorite part, BY FAR!
Every gift he opened had another huge reaction. "This is what I always wanted", was said frequently. He was so excited about everything he received.
And in true Gavin fashion we had to immediately open and put together EVERYTHING! Here he is opening and setting up all of his new "guys". These "guys" now reside in a line in his bedroom. Not sure where he gets it but Gavin likes things to be organized, even and preferably in some sort of line…I might know someone kind of like that?
After a successful swim party at G-ma and G-pa F's house (where Gavin never got in the water because all he cared about were his presents), we still had to celebrate Gavin's actual birthday the next day. By his choice we played with his new toys, went out for donuts, said good bye to G-ma and G-pa C when they headed back to TN(Gavin would have had them stay longer), and then went to dinner with some family friends. This little photo session at the donut shop sums up Gavin's personality perfectly…sweet, SILLY, funny, LOUD and adorable!
We haven't had his four year check up but I would assume he is close to average, maybe a little on the small side? We'll find out how accurate I am in two weeks.
