Happy St. Patrick's Day

What seems like three years in a row now, St. Patrick's Day was cold and rainy. We did our best to pretend it was a beautiful day for a parade.  Behind the kids are all the floats lined up getting ready to start the festivities.  The kids still had fun and collected more "treasures" than I would ever want in our house.  It was nice to hang out with friends, but I am really hoping we have nicer weather next time we attend a parade.

When I was younger celebrating St. Patrick's Day involved nothing more than wearing green on March 17th.  Now, in addition to Santa Claus, St. Nick, the Tooth Fairy, our friendly elf Bert, and the Easter Bunny, there is also a leprechaun that visits on the morning of the 17th.  The leprechaun apparently comes during the night and makes a big mess around the house…"oh what a silly leprechaun".  The kids couldn't wait to get to school and see what the leprechaun did to their classrooms.  Come on adults!  Can't we band together on some of this stuff!?!  I have enough on my plate without making a mess on purpose!!  Luckily, the 'leprechaun' got SO worn out destroying the school he didn't have the energy to visit our house!!

In other news, basketball has ended for the year.  Ava's team did pretty well for their first year.  There are A LOT of rules in basketball.  If you ever need a refresher course on just how many rules there are go to a third grade basketball game.  The whistle blows, what seems like non-stop!  At the last tournament for the year the girls got to be announced individually as than ran out onto the court, fog machine and all.  This was BY FAR Ava's favorite part of the whole season.

They were one game away from the championship and gave it their all.  They were tied 10-10 with thirty seconds left and we fouled and the girl made her free throws, which hadn't happened all season! As with soccer, Ava liked the practices but not the games.  "I don't like all the shoving Mom"…. I am seeing a trend.  She now says she likes soccer, so maybe there's a future with basketball, after all she has 8 months to forget what it was like before next years registration.  We are going to try something new  this month and see if Ava likes Track and Field…no-contact…fingers crossed.

Ella finished the first round of indoor soccer a few weeks back, but I didn't have a picture of the team.  Now I do, so here is the "Purple Power". Hopefully I can grab a picture of her new indoor team and her new outdoor team.  The girl LOVES soccer right now.

With the changing in our schedules there were a FEW nights without activities.  The girls took this opportunity to do some art projects.

A lot of art projects.  Thank you Aunt Kristy for the duct tape kit for Ava's birthday.

Gavin even had some free time and decided to have some friends over to play after school.  For those that don't know, which I wouldn't either, Gavin is a Jedi from Star Wars.  He will not wear the costume with out the fake braid you can see over his right shoulder and he takes his 'dressing up' very seriously.  Gavin, Molly, and Louis traded costumes continuously until it was time to go.  They are so cute to watch and especially listen to.
NO MORE SNOW, BRING ON SPRING! NO MORE SNOW, BRING ON SPRING!
