Easter seemed to have come and gone in the blink of an eye. This time of year is always crazy with the end of school getting close, the nice weather outside calling our names, activities, and the planning of summer activities. I did manage to grab few pictures from Easter this year. I worked Gavin's Easter party at school. I love that his class is so small this year, from my understanding we won't be so lucky next year.
The Easter bunny came for a quick visit, Gavin was SO excited to see him/her (? that's a whole other issue with me...who started the creepy bunny thing?)). Notice he had to hold the bunny's hand in the picture...it was so cute!
On Easter morning we went out to G-ma and G-pa F's house for the annual Easter bash. Unfortunately, it was cold and rainy, which didn't make for great egg hunt weather. We got out there before the rain started and the kids were able to go out for a QUICK egg hunt. Here's Gavin going through his new treasures.
I had made a suggestion to the "Easter Bunny" to maybe lay off the candy since we still have several pounds from Halloween, Xmas, and V-day, so while there was some candy there was also money! Who doesn't like money??
Money, candy, whatever, they are still very easy to please.
I did this kinda backwards, oops, here are my little egg hunters...
Like I said it was a quick hunt and then the rain started. We had to make some modifications to our big egg hunt. We decided to put all the eggs in the center and use spoons to race, get an egg, bring it back to your bucket, and continue this until your time was up. The kids would go and then the adults in 1 minute intervals till all the eggs were gone. It worked pretty well, but I still would have loved some sunshine!
Once the adults and big kids were done and the treasures handed out, it was Fiona and Penny's turn with the eggs. They were super easy to please, nothing but empty eggs needed.
Not sure if something is considered a tradition after only two years, but if so we had our "traditional" piñata up next on the agenda. The rain clouds broke for a little while and we took full advantage.
There were five kids in all who got to try and bust the piñata....
and guess who eventually broke it open!? He was ecstatic!!
That's where my pictures end for Easter. We ate and played some games, but the camera never made it back out. It was a fun Easter, but I still want some warm sunshine next year. It seems like it's been a few years since we were able to actually wear cute fun Easter dresses outside.
The day after Easter was when our spring break officially started and the kids and I decided to make the trip to TN and visit G-ma and G-pa C again this year. They had beautiful weather and we spent almost the entire 4 days outside running around. Gavin stayed in for a bit on the last morning when G-pa C had the great idea to get out and set up what is probably a 30+ year old train. I'm not sure that train will make another appearance for a few years. It was a bit more fragile than the trains Gavin is used to playing with, but he was very excited to show off his train/town he made. This has also become his picture pose, very 'superhero-ish'.
We did pass a big milestone while in TN. Ella is now riding a bike! Finally! She was getting close last year, but it's amazing what you can accomplish when you don't live on a busy street!
Yay Ella...So proud of you!!
As nice as the weather was we did spend a little time indoors. We went to glow in the dark mini golf. The kids were pretty impressed. This spot was a hallway you shot down and it looked like the hole was down the colorful steps, but the steps are actually painted, not real, and the painted hole at the end is fake, the hole is actually in front of Ella and over to her left. That one took us awhile!
All done with mini golf, Gavin is furious in this picture because he was just hit in the head with a club by Ella. Fun times, fun times.
After 4 days the kids had so much fun, were totally exhausted, and maybe a little sun burnt. I had to include this last picture from our trip home, it's just too good. After whining about how bad he had to go and making it seem like he was about to wet himself, we pulled over on the side of the highway and then he DIDN'T EVEN GO!
One more of my little superhero (fully dressed) as we spend our last month together before the girls are out of school.
