Spring Fun

In an effort to stay on top of this blog for awhile I am going to post a few things we've been up to so far this spring.  On a recent Saturday when we had no games or plans, the girls and I decided to have a "girls day".  We started by going to the movies.  We actually didn't see the Angry Birds movie, but this was the only display in the lobby and the girls wanted a picture.  We saw the DISNEY movie Zootopia, which ended up causing a few nightmares for both of them.  I'm not sure why, there was a 'mean' cougar, but like all Disney movies it all ends happy.

Next, the girls decided they wanted to try having a pedicure.  Neither of them were particularly impressed, luckily.  The women kept asking them what they wanted, but since we couldn't understand anything they were saying we just continued to nod our heads.  Once we left Ella even asked,"Mom why did they keep talking to me in another language, don't they know I can't understand it?"
Me: "actually Ella they were speaking in English, but their accents are so strong you still couldn't understand them".   Ava was pleased with the result, however Ella hated having flowers painted over the polish...haha.

Last week Ella had Grandparents Day at school.  G-ma and G-pa F were able to make it to see her sing a few songs, do a craft, and share some donuts.

Two weekends ago, Ava and I had some one on one time.  Dan took Ella and Gavin out to G-ma's house and Ava and I did our first Color Run.  There were 14 girls of various ages and their Moms from SMMA who ran the race together.  The girls got all dressed up and even made some colorful tutus.

Here are the girls right before we start...all nice and clean.

After the race, not so much.  I know everyone who knows me will think I avoided the color or wore a poncho for the race, however, I did neither.  I just ran through and actually most of us weren't too bad UNTIL they handed out color packets at the end of the race, those I avoided.

The girls didn't avoid them at all...the more color the better.

You would never guess by looking at his picture that the girls were exhausted and didn't even want to walk back to the cars.

The race was a lot of fun and while there were a few girls who have no desire to do it again Ava and her friend Abby said they're totally in.  They did awesome too, running probably 3 of the 3.2 miles.  I also promised Ella she could do it, she was disappointed I didn't sign her up this year.  Next year Ella, next year.

As if that wasn't enough for one day Ava and I then went to the Cardinals game with her friend Abby and her Mom.  Again they hung in there for awhile, but by the 6-7 inning they were ready to go.  We managed to get another 2 innings...yay, by handing over our phones...so sad!  We then went out for ice cream and headed home.  Ava and I proceeded to have a pizza picnic on the living room floor and then both went to bed at 8pm.  SO TIRED!

In totally separate news, Ella was sad to see her indoor soccer season come to an end.  Her coaches handed out trophies after the last game which they won 8-2.  Ella played great and scored several goals over the season.

Her love for soccer continues to grow (SO MUCH), I'm just hoping she doesn't get burnt out by 5th grade!

I'm sure I'll have more to report soon, but I am ending this one, another picture of Ella doing what she loves...cramming her bed so full of stuffed animals that there is no room left for her!  I need to regain some control over these three before summer hits!!
