Well, it wouldn't be my blog if I hadn't waited over a month to update...right? Anyway, Happy New Year! We had an "OK" end of the year...what I mean is we had a great Christmas and New Year's, but we have been fighting numerous illnesses since Thanksgiving! I'll start with Christmas, this was the first year that Ava really got what Christmas was all about and she was sooo excited. We bought an "Elf" for our shelf, Ava named him Bert, and he was amazing! Just the thought of upsetting Bert or getting a bad report to Santa, helped Ava stay on her best behavior! On Christmas Eve Dan and I heard noises coming from Ava's room when she was suppose to be sleeping, so we went upstairs to find her singing "Jingle Bells" and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" in her bed. She said "I can't help it...I'm too excited to sleep!".
Christmas morning we left the lights in the dining room off at first so Ava would first come to the living room and get her stocking. While excited to get her stocking it wasn't long before she said, "I only got two things for Christmas, and this isn't what I asked for?". Ella wasn't sure what was going on, but she loved tearing wrapping paper!
Once the stockings were done we flipped the lights to the tree on and brought the girls in....I loved the reaction!
First thing Ava noticed was her new bike! She couldn't wait to get on and go for a ride!
Both girls were soon hard at work....
One of Ava's favorite gifts was her new Ariel Salon. Notice the shoes....she had to put them on right away!
"Look Mom...new paints!!"
"Look Dad...a bouncy worm!!!"
After finishing things up at home we headed over to Grandma and Grandpa F's house for more Christmas celebration! Once there, the girls continued to open numerous gifts. I was unable to get pictures of everything but I did grab one of them in their new hats from Uncle Brad and Erin.
Ella would not keep hers on...surprise, surprise.
After gifts and while Ella slept off the morning, Ava and the boys (Uncles Brad and Chris and Grandpa) went out to enjoy the snow. She liked standing under the trees while they shook the branches.
Looked like fun, so Dad decided to join her.
Once Christmas was over the exhaustion was evident...
We spent the next few days resting at home. It was at this time that we discovered both girls had sinus infections and Ella had a double ear infection.
Once both girls were almost done with their meds and seemed better we ventured out and met Noah and Lane at the Magic House for some fun. Here's Noah and Ava playing the piano.
Everyone digging.....looks like all we need are some shovels and rocks in the backyard.
Tractor fun
Ava got a kick out of trying to copy the cut-outs.
Ella tried??
The girls loved the Magic House and ask to go back all the time. In all the Holiday Craziness Ava's dance class put on a mini-recital at the studio. I'll have to post some of the video from our other computer, but here are some pics from that night. Ava continuously ran over to me and would strike a pose and say "mom, take a picture of me now".
These are just two of many poses.
Here are all the girls getting ready to start the dance. Ava's all the way to the right. You may be thinking she looks so small, but most of the girls are 5 and 6 years old. There is only one other girl who just turned four last week and she is really tall like her mom and dad.
I'll try to download some of the performance soon.
Ella"s had some performances of her own this winter. While she is getting so much better at using a fork and plate when eating, we still had a lot of messy moments. Sometimes the plate seems to be more interesting than the food on it.
She knows she's not suppose to play with the plate and/or food, so this is the face I get when I catch her in the act....I usually can't help but laugh.
As I stated earlier, we have spent most of this winter fighting illnesses. After the girls were done with round one of meds, Ava didn't seem any better and started a second antibiotic. Following round two of antibiotics, sinus infection wasn't gone and the fevers started and got high. Then a few days later we took a trip to the ER and found out she also had a bad ear infection and got round three of meds. By day three it seemed to do the trick only now Ella woke up with a fever! We then went back to doc where it was determined both girls were battling lingering sinus infections, ear infections and the flu (the strain the flu shot doesn't seem to take care of). After 3 more days, which brings us to today, all seemed to be better. Then just as I got half way done updating this blog, Ella woke up from her nap vomiting all over her bed. So, I can only hope it is something she ate, but knowing how this winter's been, I'm not very optimistic. When we get sick...we get REALLY sick!! Hopefully, we're getting it all done now and then we will be good for the rest of the year!
