Why Green?

We made our first trip to the St. Patrick's Day Parade this year. We piled everyone up in strollers and walked from Grandma and Grandpa F's house to the Cottleville Parade. The girls were very excited to go and catch candy and beads. Ella was a little overwhelmed and refused to look and/or smile at the camera.
Gavin was a little less enthused, and tried very hard to sleep through it all, he wasn't very successful.
Ava, while excited, was also confused. After about 20 minutes of catching candy and green beads she asked, "why is everything only green?". I replied, "because it's St. Patrick's Day and he was Irish and Irish colors are green and white." Then, with a disappointed face she said, "I just wish I could have some pink necklaces, I don't really like green". On a side note, we had Ava's five year check up last week and she is at 33lbs. (6%), which I think is the same weight as the four year check up. She is 3'8" tall (75%). And other than some allergies, she is in great health!
After awhile, Ella warmed up and was willing to smile at the camera, if you want to call that a smile. Ella mostly watched and waited for people to come over and hand stuff directly to her. Eventually she succumbed to the heat and just watched from the shade of the stroller. As insane as it sounds for March 17th, it was in the 80's.
Not quite sure why, but this lady was dressed up as an angel and Ava decided she wanted her picture taken with the angel.
Gavin couldn't take the heat in the stroller so he came out to see the action. I am not prepared for this warm weather, so we still need to get some shorts for the little guy. Luckily, Grandma F was there to help with the kids. A one to one ratio is always easiest with the kids, especially in public!
We didn't stay for the whole parade, but overall it was fun and could definitely be a new tradition.
