Killing Time

I can't decide if I'd rather be busy with activities or totally bored at home.  The opposite of what we have always seems to be more enticing.  When we're hanging around the house my kids are usually arguing, the playing together lasts about 30 minutes to an hour before chaos erupts.  However, when we are racing from one activity to another we all crave some down time at home.  Grass is always greener on the other side, right?
Lately, we have been keeping ourselves pretty busy.  Ava and Ella are still busy with dance and they both just started basketball (I'm pretending I posted this in mid-January).  Gavin is still loving TaeKwonDo and Ella and Gavin both just finished up a soccer skills camp at Vetta.  Not to mention, Ella and Ava's first session of indoor soccer is coming to a close, only to be followed up by the second session for Ella and track and field for Ava.
Here are a few pics of Ella and Gavin at the last day of the soccer camp.  Ava said she "wanted to watch and see what the camp was like before signing up", she has no plans to sign up.

Ella and Gavin had fun at the camp.  Ella picked up a few skills and Gavin found that during scrimmaging, if he just stood in front of the goal he could "help" whoever it was kick it into the goal.

Ava came home from school the other day desperate to try an experiment they had talked about in science class.  Luckily I had all the supplies on hand.  We took two solo cups and filled them about halfway with water, put a certain amount of baking soda in each cup (don't remember exact amount), then cut a piece of yarn and let it stretch from the liquid of one cup to the liquid of the other cup.  The second higher string was just extra and proved to be a waste.  If you look closely you can see that crystals started to form on the yarn.  It was complete after about 4-5 days after which Ava took it to school to show her class the result.

Lastly, it was brought to my attention that I may not have posted any pictures of the kids rooms since they were re-done, a long time ago, oops.  If in fact I did then please disregard the pics below.  This is Gavin's room.  It is still missing a large world map I have to hang next to his bed, but I was waiting to hang it till I know for sure he won't mess with it…you may never see it. Haha

This is Ella's room which was redone a very long time ago.  She has started asking for her room to be updated like Ava's was last fall.  "Soon Ella, soon"

Ava's room was in fact recently renovated.  Not long ago I read an article someone posted on Facebook about how when girls turn 9ish all of the sudden they trade the pink and purple they have loved for years for colors like teal. They have a little more attitude, a little more sass, but are still little girls at heart.  That article made me think of Ava immediately, not because she fit perfectly into the age range, but because she now wants nothing to do with the color pink (her favorite color for 7+ years), her favorite color is now teal.  There is DEFINITELY more sass/attitude, but she still loves stuffed animals more than anything else in life.  She is 8 (9 now but not when this was "posted") going on 16.  She loves her new "big kid" room.

I got a lot to catch up on so stay tuned….
